Cook Township Recreation Center is the hub of activities for the area. The Center is
to people from the Cook, Donegal and Ligonier area particularly. It is a 13 acre site which
and outdoor space. The Center was the old Cook Township Elementary
School. It is run by a
of Directors and is maintained partly by the Township
Supervisors and partly by many
kind and hard-working
Indoors is the old Cafeteria and gym is available for larger functions - family and school reunions, exercise
classes, dinners, wedding and funeral receptions. There is also a smaller room for events. Rental information
is available through the Township Secretary, Debbie Rhodes, at 724-593-7471.
The Chestnut Ridge Historical Society has an office with displays and lots of good local information. Their
hours are: Wednesdays 11am to 3pm, and Saturdays 10am to 4pm. They have a web site there you can check for more
The Clothing Boutique has expanded to two rooms - one for clothing and another for larger furniture items
and appliances - all at very reasonable prices and benefit the Open Hands Ministry. The Boutique does not
have a phone in either room. Their hours are variable.
The local Tax Office is also located in the Center.
April Grimm is the Cook Township Tax Collector and she can be contacted at 724-593-3400.
Her hours include: Tuesday and Thursdays 9"00am to 12:00 Noon and 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Additional hours during the 2% Discount Period are 9:00am to 12:00 Noon
The outdoors area includes a playground, a picnic pavilion, a baseball field, a 1/2 court basketball court,
2 tennis courts, a football field, and a walking trail. The picnic pavilion can't be reserved, but is
available on a first-come-first-served basis.
